So I definitely overextended myself this season, hence the late post :(. I literally had my photos done in October but had zero time to get them posted. Anyway, this was one of the best years ever, watching Kayla and Cameron find their elf every day and seeing their excitement as they shredded presents open on Christmas morning. Opening presents usually takes a good hour and a half but this was finally the year they couldn’t open fast enough! I just want the innocence and wonder to last forever. This year Kayla asked Santa for baby dolls (as if she doesn’t have 10 already) and Cameron for cars (as if he doesn’t have 100 already). Lets just say they were very happy campers come Christmas day. I definitely need to clean out their rooms and get rid of all the toys they don’t play with anymore so we can make some space. Of all the dolls Kayla has and got, Violet (an old doll) remains her favorite. Her new nickname is “V.I.” She took all the accessories from the new dolls and uses them to dress up and dote on Violet. She’s even in the slide show above because Kayla insisted she be part of the photo shoot. I suppose she is part of the family at this point, she joins us at the dinner table and all. I think Cameron’s favorite new toy was given to him by his great Uncles. He loves this set of rescue vehicles where he can mix and match parts. He also loved his Spiderman quad from his Nonna but that would still be at her house until we can drive it around to our side!
Kayla is thriving in kindergarten and reading like crazy! She surprises us every day with the words she reads when we’re out and about. She’s also super creative and loves drawing and crafting. I love seeing the way she approaches projects, my lil lefty, it’s never how I would think but always turns out amazing. Her new favorite movie is Return of Mary Poppins. She has seen it 9 times at this point and is working on memorizing all the songs. Cameron is full of energy and leaves a mess wherever he goes. He’s constantly moving from one toy to the next. He’s also started testing us a bit like the time he decided to take off running down the street whilst I dropped Kayla off at school. He even crossed and alley and gave me a heart attack. How do you get a 2-year-old to understand death? He nods and says, “OK” but definitely continues to think he is invincible. I have a feeling he’s going to keep us on our toes for quite a while. He’s lucky he’s so darn cute and charming. Cams favorite movie is The Grinch, both the new animated version and the old live-action version.
We’ve had an amazing holiday season and I’ve enjoyed every extra second I’ve gotten with these kiddos. I’m looking forward to a wonderful New Year’s Eve dinner with some fam and then a quiet ringing in of the actual New Year. Cheers to an amazing 2019!!!

This holiday season was crazy, hence the after-Christmas post. I also may or may not have gone a little crazy on pictures this year as well. I can’t help it! They let me have so much fun, I can’t stop. Miss Kayla has really gotten into this over the years. She wants to help with everything and be in every picture. However that usually comes with the price of a ridiculous face, pose or prop. Cameron, on the other hand, is more into destroying anything we set up and being bribed to sit still for what feels like a millisecond.
Although busy, it has been so fun seeing them get into all things Christmas and holiday. Kayla has been singing “Oh Hanukkah” all over the place, we visited the holiday train and the enchanted garden at Descanso. She asked every day to go by the house on Florence and look at their lights. I love that house too but Cameron doesn’t understand why he can’t ride the train. When I told him we couldn’t ride it he started crying, “touch it! touch it!”. Poor thing. Needless to say Santa came through for him with some trains, cars and airplanes. Kayla also loved waking up every morning to find her elf (on the shelf). A few mornings it was way earlier than normal wake up time and she’d come running excitedly into our room asking us to come see. Cameron really got into it too, even finding him before her a couple times. We started a new tradition this year with a mailbox (this one). She “mails” her letter to Santa and for the 12 days leading up to Christmas she gets a tiny surprise like a piece of candy. On Christmas day she stopped during the festivities to tell me that this was the best Christmas ever. She still really wants My First Fashion Designer (whatever that is) but she’s beyond happy which makes my heart smile. That’s all I could ever ask for.
Quick fashion note – I was pretty obsessed with Kayla’s Christmas dress. I don’t remember noticing the hi-low rise when I bought it but it photographed beautifully! She loved the sparkles and approved of it immediately at Nordstrom. One of the few times we both agreed on an outfit 😉 Oh, and Cam the little man in the bottom pic, I mean…
We hope everyone is having a very happy holiday season. Cheers to an amazing 2018!!!
