There are no words for just how thankful we are. We feel so lucky to have been blessed with these kiddos that literally light up our lives. They keep us on our toes yet fill our hearts with so much love at the same time. Kayla has the biggest heart and is so smart, I’m sure she will be running circles around us by the time she’s 12. Cameron is playful yet sensitive and also too smart for his own good. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for the both of them and will enjoy every moment as they continue to grow.
We’re always thankful for our beautiful friends and family as well. And this year we’re extra thankful for the little ones who have joined us just this Thanksgiving as well as the ones still on the way! It’s so beautiful to see families grow and watch friends become mommies and daddies. Watching them discover this new kind of love is so special and just warms the heart.
This year was our first time participating in Burbank’s annual Turkey Trot thanks to some last minute convincing by my mom. Her, Steven, Kayla, Cameron and I all finished the 5K. I was dreading the early rise on Thanksgiving morning but once we got there, I had so much fun. From the warm-up led by an energetic lady dressed as a turkey to crossing the finish line with my family. It was so funny watching Cameron weave in and out of the crowd as he ran down the street in his oversized shirt. Kayla ran like we’ve never seen before. We brought a jogger for both kids but she was only in it maybe 10 minutes because she wanted to run her little heart out. I loved crossing the finish line with her and she was so proud to get her medal. We will definitely be back next year!
So, I usually get the kids’ Thanksgiving outfits in July or August but somehow this year, I forgot! These photos were so last-minute yet definitely my favorite Thanksgiving photos I’ve taken yet. It was the Sunday before Thanksgiving and I literally ran to Target while Kayla was at gymnastics and grabbed this outfit and let Cams pick his out. He picked this fox sweater and was so happy to put it on for pictures. Kayla liked her shirt and skirt but looked at the shoes and said, “I am NOT wearing those”. She claimed they were Easter shoes, but I got her to wear them with a little convincing. She is very particular about what she wears these days. She has been wearing dresses every single day since she started Kindergarten. She will not wear pants, shorts or even skirts. I’m not sure the reason but as long as she’s not insisting on going naked, I’ll take it 😉 Thank goodness for front yards, a “give thanks” banner in the garage and that my mom had made a beautiful arrangement for her living room table. It all worked out in the end!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Now, on to Christmas!!!
Psssst – I’ve been listening to Christmas music since before Thanksgiving and our lights are all up, along with a giant Olaf. I love this time of year 🙂
Once again, miss Kayla Grace knew exactly what she wanted to be months before Halloween and stuck with it. I’m not sure what made her choose Alice since she hasn’t been watching the movie lately but she looks adorable! She’s convince Steven to be the Mad Hatter and myself to dress as the Chesire Cate. She really wanted Cameron to be the white rabbit but he refuses. His costume is no surprise as he’s obsessed with all things vehicles. He wanted to be Thomas the Tank so I got that costume but added a conductor/engineer costume for him to wear underneath. Well, he wore the Thomas part once and won’t touch it again. But he loves the conductor costume so much he wore it to school the first day it came in the mail about a month ago.
We went to 7 pumpkin patches and/or parties this season! Kayla was very into decorating pumpkins this year. She even won a contest with kids ages 2-13 entered. She was so very proud and we are so proud of her. This girl also loves a good corn maze, unlike her mama. I always end up wanting an emergency escape route. She likes to read and find every clue and try every path if she has to. I do, however, enjoy watching the kids run around squealing with excitement when they find a path that is not a dead end. Cameron has become quite the candy fiend, he is SO ready to trick-or-treat. He does not like chocolate though which first, makes me wonder how we’re related but second, yay for me!
We have been driving around the burbank hills for weeks now looking at all the fun decorations. Our favorite spot is down on Bel Air where there’s a Star Wars themed house, a clown themed house and houses with skeletons and zombies galore. We drive by just about every day and stop and talk about all interesting things going on at each house. We’ve decided that’s where we will actually go trick-or-treating this year. I can’t wait to see what they think up close, in person. It’s going to be so much fun!
We hope everyone has a very happy, safe halloween
Meet Kai! The newest edition to our family. OK, she actually lives with Nonna but we’re all in love. I call her Kai Princess and she’s the sweetest baby German Shepherd rescue ever. We couldn’t be luckier to have her as part of our family and we’re pretty sure the feeling is mutual.
Also, more fun patriotic themed looks from Kayla and Cams. Kayla is such a ham with all these poses she comes up with. Love her personality so much. Cameron was not so into pictures. I had to bribe him with a lollipop for one decent photo. Who can blame him though, he’d rather be off playing with his cars or riding some power wheels vehicle.
We can’t wait for the 4th!!!
Kayla – Swimsuit: Cat & Jack; Glasses: Janie & Jack (similar); Red Shorts: Baby B’Gosh; Gingham Top: Baby B’Gosh (similar); Cameron – Tank: OshKosh; Popsicle Shirt: Cat & Jack; Shorts: Cat & Jack; Shoes: Cat & Jack; Lobster Towel: Pottery Barn Kids.
It’s not even the 4th yet and we’ve been having so much fun! It is swim season and the kids could not be loving the water more. They’ve both been taking swimming lessons and are learning so fast. Kayla skipped 3 levels in her first session, we’re so proud of her. Cameron had a rough start, with lots of tears the first few classes but he has come around and is a start student at last. They both love the beach as well. Cameron loves being buried in the sand and Kayla enjoys burying him.
So many fun red, white and blue props this year, I’m in heaven. I couldn’t resist the rocket pop float. Not only does it photograph well, it’s Kayla’s favorite popsicle. The donut float is not 4th themed but I love donuts and they looked so darn cute in it together, I had to include here. The lobster towel I picked up at Pottery Barn Kids along with a cute, matching plate and cup set. Cams knows it’s his and will not let anyone else use his lobster towel.
I can’t wait to see what other fun this summer brings!
Wishing everyone a very happy and safe 4th.
PS – More pics to come including a special new addition to the family!

These beautiful little bunnies are growing so fast I can hardly believe it. This is Kayla’s 6th Easter already! She is so excited for the Easter Bunny that she actually said she was going to bed early. This, from the girl who stays up all hours of the night singing songs from Moana and Frozen, reading and lite-brite-ing. She’s often still awake when we fall asleep. Cams on the other hand, was not eager to sleep at all which is par for the course. But when I did try to explain to him that he needed to sleep so the Easter Bunny could come and leave him some treats he said, “bring cars”. He wants MORE cars! He has so many cars he can’t possibly play with them all. But, he is indeed getting more cars 🙂 I can’t wait to see their little faces when they see their baskets, especially since they aren’t expecting anything other than a little candy.
Tiny updated on these little ones as well. Kayla is currently fascinated with roly polys and will stop when she sees one, pick it up and ask to bring it wherever we’re going. She also loves her new, giant trampoline her Nonna got for her birthday. She wants to spend every free moment at home on that thing. I love watching her (and Cam) jump and play looking so carefree and happy. It’s my favorite. She’s not one for letting me dress her these days or even do her hair. Luckily she was a fan of these dresses and loved wearing them not only to see the Easter Bunny but to school and for picture day.
Cam has taken up some sort of British accent and now calls me “mommay” and calls his lovey, “lovay”. He cracks me up, I don’t even know where it came from. Literally one day I was mommy and the next I’m mommay. He continues to love all things cars and trains and will take bags of cars with him or carry trains in his hands every time we leave the house. Oh, and his new favorite thing to do is ask for something and then scream “no” the second I give it to him. Goes something like this, “milk please mommy”, then I hand it to him, “NO MILK!” in an angry, upset tone. So I take it back and he screams, “MILK!!! Oh how I love terrible twos.

Our hearts are oh so happy! We had so much fun taking Valentine photos this year. It’s actually harder to get the solo shots these days because either one wants to be in the other’s photos. The love these two have for each other is real. Kayla is the best big sister I’ve ever seen and it melts my heart daily. She takes such good care of Cameron whether she’s helping him walk up and down stairs, getting his shoes on or running to say, “what’s wrong buddy?” when she hears him cry. I don’t even go running anymore because he’s happy two seconds after she gets to him. And Cameron wants Kayla to join him in whatever activity he’s doing. If he wants her to come play he yells, “come on, KAYA!!!” and when he wants her to ride his Thomas train he pats the back and says, “sissy sit here”. Kayla is also the only one he listens to most of the time. I can ask him to get in the car and be completely ignored but if Kayla says, “come on, Cams, let’s get in the car” he comes running. Let’s be honest, I do get to use this to my advantage quite a bit. 😉
I’m excited to say the annual birthday pics and St. Patrick’s Day pics have already been taken. Now to get them posted in a timely manner…for once.
This is a throwback to that time I forgot to post our Thanksgiving update. Our thanksgiving was wonderful although we were missing two very important men at our table. Uncle Jason who is currently stationed in Iraq and Uncle Bunny who moved and started his career in Nebraska. Cameron was indeed in “feast mode”, as is the norm for him. He loves to eat and will try anything once. Kayla stuck to turkey, a tiny bit of macaroni, maybe tasted some marshmallows on top of the sweet potatoes and smelled a roll. World’s pickiest eater.
It was also our first Thanksgiving without my grandmother, or as the kids called her, “doo-doo”. Her presence was very much missed but her macaroni and cheese and cheese potatoes live on in our hearts and tummies forever. I know she was there in spirit, with her glass of wine, sampling all the food before the guests arrived and telling inappropriate jokes. We miss you grandma and will never forget your overwhelmingly loving heart, sense of humor and stubborn will 😉 Salut!
