What a busy summer so far! These silly sparklers have been non-stop. We started off at Walt Disney World for a week which was some much needed fun in the sun. Kayla then jumped right into magic camp where she learned some tricks that had even myself fooled. Magic camp was followed by Equestrian Camp, Circus Camp and Gymnastics Camp with Cameron. This brings us to 4th of July where we will soon be hanging out with friends at the pool and spend the evening under a firework lit sky. Can’t wait! Kayla still has 3 weeks of science camp and 2 weeks of another gymnastics camp left. Not to mention dance class two days a week, gymnastics one day and swim three days a week with some sleepovers sprinkled in. I told you she’s busy! I don’t know how she doesn’t pass out the second she gets home. Wish I had her energy. Our grand summer finale will be a trip to San Diego including visits to Legoland and Sea World.
Cameron has been having fun just going along for the ride. He did amazing on our flight to Florida. He’s usually very nervous about take off and landing and has been known to scream rather loud. I’m happy to report zero screaming on the way back! He’s growing so fast but you still wouldn’t want to meet him in a dark alley if he’s either lacking sleep or food. We’ll get there…baby steps. He’s also getting very clever, for example, the other day he made a spitting sound we’ve talked about not doing anymore. I said, “Cameron, remember…” and before I could finish he said, “You get what you get and you don’t get upset!” How dare he use my own words against me? Kayla and I just laughed and laughed.
Cameron also got upset one recent night because I wouldn’t let him have a 4th popsicle (don’t ask why he had three already). He walked off to bed crying and I could hear Kayla greet him at bed…
“Cameron, are you sad because you want a popsicle?”
“Yes,” he replied sadly.
“Cameron, there are kids in the world who have no food and no drinks. They have nothing at all! Would it be fair if you had four popsicles and they had none?”
“Yes,” he replied sadly.
“OK, Cameron four popsicles would be way too much sugar before bed. We don’t want to get a cavity, OK?”
“OK,” he replied concededly and went to bed.
This girl blows my mind sometimes. She’s always felt like an old soul and I don’t know what I’d do without her. She helps me out with Cameron and life in general so much, she just gets things. Her current favorite pastimes include playing games like Uno, war and Guess Who, jumping on the trampoline and swimming. Kayla want’s to be an artist and a ballerina when she grows up and misses kindergarten. I can’t believe she’ll be in 1st grade in the fall.
Cameron STILL loves cars, trains and dinosaurs but mostly cars. He will carry a car or bag of cars with him wherever he goes. He wishes he did not have to go to school everyday or wear pants and dislikes lots of change. He loves swimming, candy and his mama. I am a sucker for this kid and he knows it!
This is the latest post ever! I’m doing it anyway so I don’t break tradition. I actually had all of my photos done early but once I got them posted to pinterest and social media, I decided to take a little break. Work was crazy busy on top of the everyday circus that is our life and of course had to make time to love on these cuties. Then, of course, we had Easter festivities and Easter day prep. It was all completely worth it in the end. We had one of the absolute best Easters ever! We had a lovely outdoor lunch at our house and Kayla and Cameron had so much fun egg hunting. I wish they could stay this age forever. This was the first year the Easter Bunny did a scavenger hunt at Nonna’s house and Kayla was over the moon. She was so excited running, hopping, skipping and rolling from clue to clue. She didn’t want it to end. Meanwhile, Cameron followed along gathering all his goodies and not putting a single thing down! It was too cute for words. Kayla was so inspired that she insisted on a Mother’s Day scavenger hunt for myself. She worked hard the night before setting it all up with Daddy. You gotta love her sweet heart.
4th of July is next! Photos have been done for months and I don’t plan to be late to document this year 😉
Kayla Grace is the sweetest big sister we ever did see. She takes such good care of her little brother. Whether at school, in a store or even getting my eyebrows waxed she is there to carry him, pick up something he dropped, tie a shoe, give him a boost, kiss his boo boos and correct his grammar. These photos say it all. I don’t ask them to hug, kiss or look lovingly at each other they just do and it melts my heart. We love our sweet valentines more than words can say.
Kayla is having her first Valentine’s show where her little class will sing some songs for us. I can’t wait to see it!!! She has been singing all the songs in the car and around the house and she is always so surprised when I know the words. I have become the parent who annoyingly says, “I know everything”. Kayla picked out little tchotchkes for her friends, filled goodie bags and signed 24 cards for her classmates. She made a special one for her bestie and can’t wait to bring them to school!
Cameron is transitioning to a new school this week and is doing so well, I can’t believe it. I’m so proud of him and the little man he’s shaping up to be. He is the sweetest, snuggliest lil guy I know and I can’t get enough of it. It will be sad to say goodbye to friends and teachers but at least he gets to spend this day with the ones who have been with him since he was just 4 months old. We’ve been talking a lot about Valentine’s Day and he’s also getting excited. He can’t believe his friends will be giving him cards and treats. He’s going to love it!
I hope both kiddos have a Valentine’s day to remember 🙂
Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
So I definitely overextended myself this season, hence the late post :(. I literally had my photos done in October but had zero time to get them posted. Anyway, this was one of the best years ever, watching Kayla and Cameron find their elf every day and seeing their excitement as they shredded presents open on Christmas morning. Opening presents usually takes a good hour and a half but this was finally the year they couldn’t open fast enough! I just want the innocence and wonder to last forever. This year Kayla asked Santa for baby dolls (as if she doesn’t have 10 already) and Cameron for cars (as if he doesn’t have 100 already). Lets just say they were very happy campers come Christmas day. I definitely need to clean out their rooms and get rid of all the toys they don’t play with anymore so we can make some space. Of all the dolls Kayla has and got, Violet (an old doll) remains her favorite. Her new nickname is “V.I.” She took all the accessories from the new dolls and uses them to dress up and dote on Violet. She’s even in the slide show above because Kayla insisted she be part of the photo shoot. I suppose she is part of the family at this point, she joins us at the dinner table and all. I think Cameron’s favorite new toy was given to him by his great Uncles. He loves this set of rescue vehicles where he can mix and match parts. He also loved his Spiderman quad from his Nonna but that would still be at her house until we can drive it around to our side!
Kayla is thriving in kindergarten and reading like crazy! She surprises us every day with the words she reads when we’re out and about. She’s also super creative and loves drawing and crafting. I love seeing the way she approaches projects, my lil lefty, it’s never how I would think but always turns out amazing. Her new favorite movie is Return of Mary Poppins. She has seen it 9 times at this point and is working on memorizing all the songs. Cameron is full of energy and leaves a mess wherever he goes. He’s constantly moving from one toy to the next. He’s also started testing us a bit like the time he decided to take off running down the street whilst I dropped Kayla off at school. He even crossed and alley and gave me a heart attack. How do you get a 2-year-old to understand death? He nods and says, “OK” but definitely continues to think he is invincible. I have a feeling he’s going to keep us on our toes for quite a while. He’s lucky he’s so darn cute and charming. Cams favorite movie is The Grinch, both the new animated version and the old live-action version.
We’ve had an amazing holiday season and I’ve enjoyed every extra second I’ve gotten with these kiddos. I’m looking forward to a wonderful New Year’s Eve dinner with some fam and then a quiet ringing in of the actual New Year. Cheers to an amazing 2019!!!
There are no words for just how thankful we are. We feel so lucky to have been blessed with these kiddos that literally light up our lives. They keep us on our toes yet fill our hearts with so much love at the same time. Kayla has the biggest heart and is so smart, I’m sure she will be running circles around us by the time she’s 12. Cameron is playful yet sensitive and also too smart for his own good. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for the both of them and will enjoy every moment as they continue to grow.
We’re always thankful for our beautiful friends and family as well. And this year we’re extra thankful for the little ones who have joined us just this Thanksgiving as well as the ones still on the way! It’s so beautiful to see families grow and watch friends become mommies and daddies. Watching them discover this new kind of love is so special and just warms the heart.
This year was our first time participating in Burbank’s annual Turkey Trot thanks to some last minute convincing by my mom. Her, Steven, Kayla, Cameron and I all finished the 5K. I was dreading the early rise on Thanksgiving morning but once we got there, I had so much fun. From the warm-up led by an energetic lady dressed as a turkey to crossing the finish line with my family. It was so funny watching Cameron weave in and out of the crowd as he ran down the street in his oversized shirt. Kayla ran like we’ve never seen before. We brought a jogger for both kids but she was only in it maybe 10 minutes because she wanted to run her little heart out. I loved crossing the finish line with her and she was so proud to get her medal. We will definitely be back next year!
So, I usually get the kids’ Thanksgiving outfits in July or August but somehow this year, I forgot! These photos were so last-minute yet definitely my favorite Thanksgiving photos I’ve taken yet. It was the Sunday before Thanksgiving and I literally ran to Target while Kayla was at gymnastics and grabbed this outfit and let Cams pick his out. He picked this fox sweater and was so happy to put it on for pictures. Kayla liked her shirt and skirt but looked at the shoes and said, “I am NOT wearing those”. She claimed they were Easter shoes, but I got her to wear them with a little convincing. She is very particular about what she wears these days. She has been wearing dresses every single day since she started Kindergarten. She will not wear pants, shorts or even skirts. I’m not sure the reason but as long as she’s not insisting on going naked, I’ll take it 😉 Thank goodness for front yards, a “give thanks” banner in the garage and that my mom had made a beautiful arrangement for her living room table. It all worked out in the end!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Now, on to Christmas!!!
Psssst – I’ve been listening to Christmas music since before Thanksgiving and our lights are all up, along with a giant Olaf. I love this time of year 🙂
Once again, miss Kayla Grace knew exactly what she wanted to be months before Halloween and stuck with it. I’m not sure what made her choose Alice since she hasn’t been watching the movie lately but she looks adorable! She’s convince Steven to be the Mad Hatter and myself to dress as the Chesire Cate. She really wanted Cameron to be the white rabbit but he refuses. His costume is no surprise as he’s obsessed with all things vehicles. He wanted to be Thomas the Tank so I got that costume but added a conductor/engineer costume for him to wear underneath. Well, he wore the Thomas part once and won’t touch it again. But he loves the conductor costume so much he wore it to school the first day it came in the mail about a month ago.
We went to 7 pumpkin patches and/or parties this season! Kayla was very into decorating pumpkins this year. She even won a contest with kids ages 2-13 entered. She was so very proud and we are so proud of her. This girl also loves a good corn maze, unlike her mama. I always end up wanting an emergency escape route. She likes to read and find every clue and try every path if she has to. I do, however, enjoy watching the kids run around squealing with excitement when they find a path that is not a dead end. Cameron has become quite the candy fiend, he is SO ready to trick-or-treat. He does not like chocolate though which first, makes me wonder how we’re related but second, yay for me!
We have been driving around the burbank hills for weeks now looking at all the fun decorations. Our favorite spot is down on Bel Air where there’s a Star Wars themed house, a clown themed house and houses with skeletons and zombies galore. We drive by just about every day and stop and talk about all interesting things going on at each house. We’ve decided that’s where we will actually go trick-or-treating this year. I can’t wait to see what they think up close, in person. It’s going to be so much fun!
We hope everyone has a very happy, safe halloween
Meet Kai! The newest edition to our family. OK, she actually lives with Nonna but we’re all in love. I call her Kai Princess and she’s the sweetest baby German Shepherd rescue ever. We couldn’t be luckier to have her as part of our family and we’re pretty sure the feeling is mutual.
Also, more fun patriotic themed looks from Kayla and Cams. Kayla is such a ham with all these poses she comes up with. Love her personality so much. Cameron was not so into pictures. I had to bribe him with a lollipop for one decent photo. Who can blame him though, he’d rather be off playing with his cars or riding some power wheels vehicle.
We can’t wait for the 4th!!!
