Hippity Hoppity Easter’s on its way! Our lil bunnies are so ready for Easter. Eggs dyed…check, Easter outfits…check, torturous trip to the Easter Bunny…check. Poor Cameron did NOT like the Easter Bunny one bit (see below). Just like his big sister at that age. We dyed eggs today whilst Cam was napping so that “babyzilla” would not destroy the entire experience. He always wants to do whatever big sister is doing and that usually means walking or crawling up and sitting right on top of whatever Kayla is playing with. I can only imagine what it would have looked like had he done that with the 16 cups of dye in front of her. Kayla had fun meticulously dying and glittering each one of her eggs. We can’t wait to watch her find them all tomorrow!
Bedtime is usually a long, drawn-out ordeal. “I need one more huggy”, “I have to go potty”, “I want a cup of milk”, “tell me a story”, followed by 20 random questions and hours of singing to herself in bed. But tonight, she actually asked me to leave! She said, “I want you to leave, I need to go to sleep so the Easter Bunny can come”. That was it, she was out. She’s so excited and I love it. Can she stay like this forever?
Special credit to Kayla and Cameron’s Nonna for these Easter ensembles. Kayla loved her dress and rainbow outfit. She’s worn them both many times already. And let’s just say we’ve got some good bribery material for Cam when he’s older 😉
I don’t usually do St. Patrick’s Day photos buuuuuut, the outfits were there and I was feeling the holiday this year. So, literally on our way out the door to school we took some quick pics. They were such troopers, unusually willing to entertain their mamma. Maybe it was the unlimited Lucky Charm consumption that was going on.
Kayla loved her festive tunic and kept asking why only one shamrock was green. She decided it was because it was the most special one. At school, they were visited by little leprechauns. There were little green hand and footprints all over the room and even green pee in the toilet bowls! They had a hunt for shamrock coins and gold nuggets. She was very excited to share that she had found the most coins of anyone in her class. When I picked her up from school, she had a green donut waiting in her seat (which she quickly devoured). It was a very happy St. Patrick’s Day had by all 🙂

Kayla is very into picking out her own outfits these days. I basically have no say in what she wears anymore. It’s like my worst nightmare! She literally picks out the least matching outfits she can find everyday and then tops off the look with mismatched socks encased in two different open-toe sandals. I’m not sure if people realize she dresses herself or think I am a crazed mom of two and can’t get my act together enough to pick out matching outfits for my kid! I need to do a post on one of her every day outfits because I’m sure my description doesn’t do it justice. Luckily, she was really into her Valentine’s outfits with the sparkly heart and tutu skirt which she loves so there was no argument there. We did, however, have a shoe disagreement so I had to compromise with the white socks sticking out of her boots.
Kayla’s new favorite accessory is headbands which she likes to wear atop her favorite hairstyle, the “Elsa braid”. She had a favorite pink, shiny headband that she recently lost at a birthday party. We searched all over and couldn’t find it (most likely lost in a ball pit). She keeps asking us to call the place to ask if they’ve found it but they have not returned our calls or emails. We have no idea why one of her 12 other headbands aren’t sufficient replacements but a quick trip to target has temporarily fixed the situation.
We had a very low-key Valentine’s Day because poor Kayla got a stomach bug the day before. Poor thing was down for a couple days and even had to miss her little exchange at school. She’s much better now though!
Hope everyone had a very happy Valentine’s Day!
Our Christmas cuties! It’s Cameron’s first Christmas and Kayla’s first as an official big sister. No doubt there will be some help with unwrapping presents once she’s ripped through her own. Kayla loves helping her little brother whether it’s feeding him adult size spoonfuls of food, picking him up every two seconds until he’s lost it or taking every toy he grabs while saying “I was going to play with that” (even if it’s a baby teether). Kidding aside, she’s really an amazingly sweet, caring big sister and I’m not sure what I’d do without her. She will make him laugh or sing to him when he’s upset in his carseat, she loves to read books to him and always makes sure to let him know that he’s “the best little brother in the world”.
We, I mean I went crazy with Christmas outfits as usual this year. Kayla enjoys the movie Elf so she got an fun shirt that says, “Don’t be a cotton headed ninny muggins”. And to compliment her silly shirt we got Cameron a “Merry Christmas you filthy animal” shirt. I think my favorite outfits were their matching PJ’s with the reindeer hats though. It really doesn’t get much cuter than that!
It is still incredibly hard to get these two to smile at the same time. Literally every time I get a smile out of one, the other one starts frowning. It’s like some evil toddler/baby plot against me! I still enjoy every moment though and really the best pictures are the candid moments between the two of them when they aren’t even looking at the camera.
Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
So of course we are extra thankful this year, we have two beautiful blessings now! It was Cameron’s first Thanksgiving and unlike his sister, he loves food. He enjoyed sweet potato, mashed potatoes and pumpkin. Even with two kids, we managed to make three stops to visit family and friends. It was such a wonderful day filled with lots of love and laughter.
Kayla also had a Thanksgiving event at school where she wrote on her leaf that she was “thankful for her momma”. She just melts my heart. But if you ask her in person she says she’s thankful for her Daddy, Mommy, Cameron, Rocko and Nonna. She loves her little brother so much. She was so happy to see their matching shirts and loved that Cameron’s said thankful for his big sister and vice versa. She actually snuggles up to him and kisses him in our pictures all on her own, I never even ask her to. It’s the cutest thing ever. Although there are definitely times when she’s snatching his favorite toy out of his hand or singing extra loud when he’s sleeping in his car seat right next to her. But hey, that’s what big sisters are for…I should know 😉
Hope everyone had a beautiful Thanksgiving as well!
Christmas pictures have already been taken and can’t wait to share!!!
Top Left – 1st Halloween Onesie: Peanuts & Monkeys; Donut Costume: Chasing Fireflies; Thermals: Cuddl Duds; Top 2nd Right – Petit&Posh; Shark Costume: Forum Novelties; Bottom Right – Youngland; Shoes: Mini Melissa
It’s Halloween times 2 this year!!! How can you not smile looking at these cuties? We let Kayla pick all of the costumes this year. She loves donuts so no surprise she wanted to be her favorite donut…pink frosting with sprinkles. She then deemed Cameron a shark, Daddy a Tiger and Mommy an ice cream cone. It cracks us up every time we put that shark head on Cam. He’s been a great sport too, he wears it as if nothing is on his head. They’ve had so much fun wearing their costumes out for various events. Kayla even wore hers to dance class this weekend where it was a bit hit amongst the teachers and parents as well!
Last year Kayla was fascinated with the white pumpkins at the pumpkin patch but this year it’s the gourds. Her Nonna “had” to buy two gourds at a halloween festival for her. She would not put them down and if another kid pointed at them she made sure to take a step in the opposite direction. What do you even do with those things??? They make her happy, so I guess that’s all that matters.
Although halloween times 2 has also meant work times 2 we wouldn’t have it any other way! Can’t wait to take these two munchkins trick-or-treating soon and watch the joy on Kayla’s face as she hops from house to house. Cam is just along for the ride this year 😉
Yep, she’s back and this time as a big sister! This is Cameron’s debut on WKW, he may not look thrilled but this kid is all about smiles. Kayla adores her little brother (when she’s not trying to startle him awake from a peaceful slumber). I’m going to have to figure out a trick to get them to smile at the same time. Every time one is smiling the other will cough, sneeze, cry or just look away.
Kayla wore her star dress to school today for her 4th of July picnic/parade and got so many compliments. She currently loves anything that sparkles so the glitter stars on the tutu were a big hit. Her sandals were also sparkly silver and for some reason she loves the fact that both straps velcro on each foot.
I’m looking forward to fireworks with friends and family this weekend. For some reason, Kayla wasn’t a fan of them last year (maybe too loud?). I’m hoping she realizes how fun they are this time around.
Happy 4th of July!
